A total of £1,000 had been raised and this was to be presented to the charity that the group supports, Yateley Industries for the Disabled.
The Mayor of Yateley joined us, along with regular attendees and new visitors, to present the cheque to Sandra McLarry who was representing Yateley Industries. The Yateley and Fleet News and Mail will be putting an article in next week’s paper.
Yateley Networking was bought about when Abstract Print & Design was starting up and were attending networking events wherever they could to help them make contacts, get advice and see how other businesses promoted themselves. In doing this, they found, as Abstract is based in Blackwater, that there were not any networking events held in the Blackwater/Yateley area.
As most will be aware, Karen worked at Yateley Industries for 21 years before leaving a year and a half ago to work full time in Abstract, so as you will understand this charity is very close to her heart.
Along with the manager, Pat McLarry, it was agreed that they could use this venue to run a networking event with their suggestion that any money taken after costs would be donated back into the charity.
So Yateley Networking, not only supports local businesses, helping them to build relationships, gain advice, contacts and do business; it also supports this charity which is run to support Vulnerable and Disabled Adults to progress into mainstream employment and also receive supported living.
So at this meeting they had the pleasure, with the help of all of that have attended these networking events over time, to be able to donate £1,000 to Yateley Industries, this is going to be put towards the new build that is currently taking place to help with the furnishings.
Also at the meeting we had Nell op de Beeck from Action Coach delivering the 10-minute speaker slot on Disc Profiling.
Within business Disc Profiling can be used to help with recruitment, sales and teams. Nell focused more on how it can be used in sales on this occasion.
So what does DISC stand for?
· D – Dominate – these people are extraverts and more task orientated. They like bullet points of information presented to them, they can come across as loud and assumed as a bit arrogant due to their manner.
· I – Influence – these people are extraverts and like to talk in much detail about everything, personal and business information. They can be accused of wasting time, they don’t listen and so are not good at making decisions.
· S – Steady – these people are a bit more reserved, introverts, than the ‘I’ people but have similarities. They are hard to change, like set ways and routines and so look into things in more detail and take time to make decisions.
· C – Conscientious - these are introverts and very task related. You will find that people such as Accountants and Bookkeepers will fall into this bracket as they enjoy systems, spreadsheets and need to know every little detail. They will look into everything before making decisions.
So if you are interested in this and would like to find out more about what you profile is then you could catch up with Nell to find out how by contacting her by email firstname.lastname@example.org
We would just like to say another big thank you to all of you that have supported Yateley Networking over the past, nearly 2 years, and to Zan at Sandhurst Bakery for supply the delicious pastries that we all enjoy at the morning events. Not forgetting, Emma and La Galleria, for the very tasty Tapas that we all get to try at the evening events.
